An alumni network website for IIEST Shibpur, featuring a blog, and a campus placement tracker.

In October 2013, my college and departmental senior Prithviraj Nag came up with the idea of developing an alumni networking website to facilitate better interaction between current students of our college and the vast number of our alumni spread all over the world. Thus began my first foray into serious web-development and also into the world of startups and entrepreneurship.

An academic networking website especially developed for IIEST Shibpur students, alumni and faculty members.

Salient Features

  • The Blog is where the seniors, alumni and faculty members can share their knowledge and experience with their juniors by writing articles on the topics of their expertise.
  • Placement Tracker – shows the job placement details of the students of IIEST Shibpur, including details like visiting companies, salaries offered, number of selections, and other trends. This is a first-of-its-kind feature for an Indian institute.

Technical Wrap-up

  • Database: SQL Server. Server Side Language: ASP.NET Web-pages (C#) Razor.
  • The entire website follows flat design approach – something that was quite new in 2013.
